Here's my video reference that I've got from vimeo.com (http://vimeo.com/15433780)
As a part of planning I drew first the key poses, so I can study it much better. (But why not directly posing it to Maya?) Yea you can also do that, but for me it's easier to draw, exaggerate, choose a more dynamic and appealing pose and play around with a stick figure before posing to Maya. But sometimes if my drawing power is not enough, and I cant get the right perspective for the pose, I ask help with the 3D space in Maya, and pose the character then draw it again.. nyahaha XD
After finalising the key poses I moved into getting the right timing using the flipbook.
I blocked it now in Maya. I hide first the arms, so I can focus on the body because the arms will just follow.. :]
Finished polishing it and ready to render..
A quick tip that I learned while in the process: "Every frame is a drawing"(http://www.11secondclub.com/helpful_hints/every_frame_is_a_drawing)
